Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is today, a multi-clinic network with a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. The Quality Assurance and Improvement (“QA/I”) Medical Assistant performs functions within the organization to promote high quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care, including collaboration with the QA/I team on identifying and implementing Medical Assistant training and support methods. The QA/I Medical Assistant also serves as a key bridge between the QA/I department and clinical staff in the clinics, including providing support to clinic medical assistants, care navigators, front office representatives and other operations staff as appropriate and encouraging their participation in ongoing Quality Improvement programs.

Responsibilities

Quality Team Collaboration:

  • Conduct patient outreach to address care gaps, sharing outreach best practices with QA/I team for spread to other care teams.
  • Collaborate with the QA/I team to provide clinical perspective and support for QA/I projects, initiatives, and strategies. 
  • Collaborate with the MA Supervisors at all sites to support, coordinate and promote QI activities and increase MA participation.
  • Collaborate with QA/I Staff to develop monthly Population Health activities for second Wednesday morning QI sessions.
  • Identify and share best practices for EPIC/OCHIN to increase knowledge and efficiency in using the system.
  • Other duties as assigned.   

Training Program:

  • Work with the QA/I team, contribute to the design of the MA training sessions, including:
    • Identifying high priority training topics based on experience working in clinics.
    • Determining efficient workflows that incorporate OCHIN Epic.
    • Providing feedback on training materials.
  • Work to develop sense of competence and confidence in MAs, including helping them to understand their vital role in delivering high quality patient care.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:  

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) required.
  • Medical Assistant certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program. 
  • Must have valid CPR certification.
  • 3 years minimum, 5 years desired Medical Assistant experience in a comparable work environment, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a Medical Assistant leadership or training role highly desired. 
  • Ability to work in fast paced medical environment and take initiative to deliver tasks.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Improvement, Compliance and/or Data Analysis highly desirable.  
  • Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Records preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and organize workload.
  • Ability to identify gaps in processes and bring potential correction solutions to Quality Medical Director.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication ability.
  • Must be able to work independently, with written and verbal protocols.
  • Ability to work independently with providers and clinic staff.
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must be sensitive to ethnic and cultural differences relevant to health care. 
  • Bi-lingual English Spanish required.
  • Proficient in software applications including Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to organize work and establish priorities to accomplish multiple tasks concurrently is critical to success. 
  • Travel to clinic sites within assigned work area.

  • Fulfill immunization and fit for duty regulatory requirements.
  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
