Overview

Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is today, a multi-clinic network with a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. The Clinics regularly receive national awards from the Health Resources and Services Administrations (HRSA). The Associate Site Medical Director partners with and reports to the Site Medical Director to support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care at a specified clinical site(s) or for a specified provider group and/or patient population. This position support oversight

 

Will consider candidates with MD, DO, NP, PA credentials or equivalent degree from an accredited institution; current California license and DEA certificate required. The salary range for this position is $157,438–$298,870 annually, commensurate with licensure, qualifications, and scope of practice (NP/PA or MD/DO).  

Responsibilities

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Site Medical Director to supervise, mentor, and coach medical clinicians to support the provision of excellent care and the ongoing professional development and sustainability of providers.
  • Participate in medical provider recruitment, selection, onboarding and orientation processes.
  • Promotes adherence by providers to MCC’s policies, procedures, clinical and operational workflows, and accepted standards of care and may assist with completion of annual performance reviews.
  • Partner with the Site Medical Director to implement strategic priorities, operational goals, and staffing models that optimize patient access, efficiency, and care quality at the site.
  • Contributes to the implementation of a comprehensive clinical quality, risk management and safety program at the site level, including analysis and response to clinical incidents and complaints, clinical quality assessments and clinical performance tracking.
  • Help monitor and ensure the competency and professional conduct of all medical providers at the site by supporting implementation of the components of the MCC Provider Credentialing and Privileging and Peer Review Policies and Procedures for providers at the clinical site.
  • Promote compliance with the training, documentation, billing and practice requirements of HRSA, FTCA, CMS, the Joint Commission and other federal, state, and accrediting agencies.
  • Support clinical and administrative communication through regular provider meetings and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Contribute to internal leadership meetings and committees, and meetings with community-based partners, as assigned.
  • Support and promote clinical operations workflows that contribute to efficient, high-quality, patient-centered care at the site.
  • Help lead regular provider and clinical staff meetings at the site, focused on clinical education, policy and procedure updates, compliance trainings and quality improvement/risk reduction initiatives.
  • Other administrative duties as delegated by the Site Medical Director, ACMO(s) or CMO.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provides high quality, evidence-based comprehensive outpatient primary care for an assigned patient panel consistent with their specialty training (e.g. Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine) and privileging.
  • Conducts routine preventive care, acute and urgent care, and care for the management of chronic health conditions.
  • Provides consultation to advance practice practitioners working at the clinic consistent with their medical specialty.
  • Participates in quality management and peer review activities as assigned by the Medical Director.
  • Participates in the direction and development of health care services provided by Marin Community Clinics as a member of the primary health care team.
  • In addition to regularly scheduled shifts, must be able to work a minimum of three (3) 4-hour Saturday shifts per calendar year, providing medical care to patients within the standard scope of practice. Requirement begins after 90-day training period and compensation for coverage to be outlined in offer.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervising Medical Director.

Additional Responsibilities:

 

For Pediatrics - Only:

  • Opportunity to conduct pediatric inpatient hospital rounds at Marin General Hospital based on need and interest.

For Internal Medicine/Family Medicine - Only:

  • In addition to regularly schedule shifts, required to be available to respond to after-hour calls regarding critical lab results for adult patients throughout the organization for a minimum of 2 weeks per year. Requirement begins after 90-day training period and compensation for coverage to be outlined in offer.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Support the Site Medical Director in recruitment, selection, and onboarding of medical providers and key clinical staff.
  • Assist in onboarding, training and continued development of staff.
  • Support employee performance, effectively communicate expectations and goals and provide performance feedback and evaluation in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Ensure a safe, secure and legal work environment by upholding MCC’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible MD with current California Medical License and DEA certificate.
  • Three or more years’ of experience providing Primary Care Medicine care in outpatient healthcare setting.
  • Past work experience in leadership roles or positions.
  • Demonstrated medical clinical skills.
  • Ability to use computer and utilize software such as MS Outlook and other programs.
  • Prior work experience with EPIC Electronic Health Records a plus.
  • Current BLS certification.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor peers, and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Familiarity with FQHC operations, managed care principles, and quality improvement methods preferred.
  • Experience with EHR systems (EPIC preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor peers, and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Knowledge of managed care, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance in healthcare settings. Experience with HRSA, FTCA, CMS, CDPH, DHCS, the Joint Commission desired.
  • Experience with EHR systems (EPIC preferred).
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Must be able to navigate electronic medical records and other related IT systems efficiently with training

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Fulfill Immunization and fit for duty regulatory requirements.
  • This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement.
  • Travel among our medical clinics and administration in Marin, as well as occasional travel to community partners.
  • Must have ability to perform confidential patient visits remotely including adequate internet/telephonic services and a remote workspace that protects patient confidentiality.
  • Expect prolonged standing, walking, and prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, with keyboard and mouse.
