Overview

Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is today, a multi-clinic network with a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. The Clinics regularly receive national awards from the Health Resources and Services Administrations (HRSA). The Systems Administrator supports maintaining and optimizing MCC’s computer systems, networks, and servers.  This role performs systems installation and maintenance tasks, such as back-up, recovery, and file maintenance to promote uptime and efficient performance. This role will provide essential support to ensure the efficient and secure operation of our IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.
  • Perform routine system updates, patches, and upgrades.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Assist in managing and troubleshooting network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Lead with MCC Managed Services Provider, engaging as needed.
  • Help maintain network security protocols and access controls.
  • Collaborate with leadership and senior administrators to optimize network performance and reliability.
  • Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware/software problems.
  • Assist in setting up and configuring user accounts, email, and access permissions.
  • Collaborate with IT helpdesk/desktop support to resolve user issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist in implementing and managing backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Exercise independent judgment and decision making in configuration and optimization of network and managed databases.
  • Perform routine data backups and ensure data integrity.
  • Participate in disaster recovery drills and testing.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Prepare reports on system performance and incident resolutions.
  • Assist in implementing and enforcing security policies and protocols.
  • Monitor system logs for security breaches and unauthorized access.
  • Participate in security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement technology solutions that support business objectives.
  • Assist in evaluating and recommending IT hardware and software purchases.
  • On call rotation for night and weekend support as well as special project (approx. 1X month).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) required.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Associate) is a plus.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Available for rapid on-site response to technical emergencies.
  • Strong understanding of computer systems, networking, and IT infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Valid CA driver’s License.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Fulfill immunization and fit for duty regulatory requirements.
  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, with keyboard and mouse.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
