Overview

Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is today, a multi-clinic network with a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. The Clinics regularly receive national awards from the Health Resources and Services Administrations (HRSA). The Lead RN supervises a team of nurses in the delivery of high quality, cost-effective, culturally-sensitive, patient-centered health care. The goal of the Lead RN is to lead her or his local team of RNs to provide high quality nursing care, to decrease clinical risk, implement improvement initiatives and innovations, and serve as a lead and mentor to nurses in the organization. Lead RN reports to Site Medical Director.

 

Will consider LVN candidates who are working toward their RN credentials and graduating within the next 6months. 

 

Responsibilities

Clinical (24-38 hours per week depending on RN FTE)

  • Assists the Clinic Director and Site Medical Director to continually evaluate and improve current clinical operations.
  • Trains or arranges training for new RNs at their site.
  • Helps initiate and implement new workflows or concepts.
  • Participates in site-based operational meetings once a month.
  • May participate in MCC-wide clinical operations meetings once a month.
  • Disseminates relevant information from meetings back to site RN team.
  • Serves as mentor to MAs in leadership roles.
  • Collaborates with MA leadership to ensure standardization of MA training and adherence to clinic policy and procedures.

Excellence and Quality (2-8 hours per week depending on clinic)

  • Champions population health programs at their site (i.e., PHASE) and actively coordinates and distributes this work among her/his colleagues.
  • Ensures that clinical and operational workflows are being followed as per clinic policy and procedure via actively auditing performance and coaching for quality.
  • Collaborates with MA leaders and Clinic Director to ensure non-clinical support staff receive standardized training and coaching as needed.
  • Facilitates and oversees PDSA cycles as her or his site and provides constructive feedback.

Supervisory

  • Supervises and provides coaching to RN colleagues at their local clinic site.
  • Provides clinical guidance and support to MA Supervisor and MA Leads as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate or BA/BS degree required.
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
  • Will consider LVN candidates who are working toward their RN credentials and graduating within the next 6months. 
  • 2 or more years of experience providing primary care in a family practice/ internal medicine practice.
  • Leadership experiences a plus but not required.
  • Quality Assurance/ Improvement experience a plus.
  • Current California RN license in good standing.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Records preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of typing and sitting at a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
