Overview

Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is today, a multi-clinic network with a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. The Clinics regularly receive national awards from the Health Resources and Services Administrations (HRSA). The Occupational Health Nurse (“OHN”) supports the health and safety of the workforce at Marin Community Clinics (“MCC”) by delivering occupational health services to employees, contractors, volunteers, and interns. This includes performing pre-employment onboarding and renewals of immunizations, mask fit testing, and fit-for-duty attestations. Reporting to the Director of Nursing and working with the Director of Human Resources, this role is a key member of the safety team, collaborating across leadership and operations.

 

The OHN is an important part of our injury prevention and response plan. The role also plays a key part in maintaining regulatory compliance through the administration and documentation of ongoing occupational health requirements.

 

  • On-site role with travel between multiple clinic locations in Marin county (San Rafael, Novat, Larkspur & Greenbrae). 
  • Schedule - 8:30am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday

Responsibilities

  • Ensure organizational compliance with regulatory requirements related to employee immunizations and screenings is consistent with Joint Commission, HRSA, FTCA, Cal/OSHA, CDPH, state laws, and CDC/ACIP standards.
  • Administer and document pre-employment and annual immunizations, screenings (e.g., TB, mask fit testing), and fit-for-duty attestations.
  • Coordinate and oversee annual staff vaccine clinics, including seasonal influenza immunizations and mask fit testing.
  • Maintains BLS instructor training and provides BLS training and certification for MCC staff.
  • Maintain accurate employee health records and California Immunization Registry (CAIR2) entries while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Monitor and maintain occupational health supplies and equipment, including immunizations, syringes, needles, PPE, etc., ensuring they are stocked, current, and in good working order.
  • Collaborate effectively with Human Resources, Compliance, and Clinic Operations teams on injury prevention, response, and safety initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver evidence-based communication and training materials to promote workforce safety and wellness.
  • Prepare documentation and reports using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to support audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in occupational health nursing or a related clinical field is highly desired. 
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with an active, unrestricted license in the State of California.
  • Bachelor’s degree education level in nursing is highly preferred. 
  • Additional certification in occupational health (COHN) is a plus.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with Compliance HRSA, FTCA, and Joint Commission regulatory requirements
  • Strong understanding of immunization schedules and regulatory health requirements for healthcare workers.
  • Skilled in verbal and written communication; ability to document and present clearly.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaker desired. 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Fulfill immunization and fit for duty regulatory requirements. 
  • On-site role with travel between multiple clinic locations in Marin.
  • Perform job duties involving prolonged sitting, walking, and standing,
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. as needed.
