Overview

Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is today, a multi-clinic network with a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. The Clinics regularly receive national awards from the Health Resources and Services Administrations (HRSA). The Credentialing and Enrollment Coordinator is responsible for supporting all aspects of provider and clinic site credentialing, payor enrollment, and licensing at Marin Community Clinics. This position ensures accurate and timely submission of provider applications, supports documentation gathering, and maintains up-to-date tracking of enrollment and credentialing status. The Coordinator collaborates closely with the Credentialing and Enrollment Supervisor, payors, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and to facilitate the efficient onboarding and maintenance of relevant employees (LIP, OLCP, and OCS) and clinic sites.

Responsibilities

Credentialing and Enrollment Support

  • Assist with preparing, submitting, and tracking provider/employees (LIP, OLCP, and OCS) and site enrollment and credentialing applications with payors, including Medi-Cal, Medicare, commercial plans, and managed care organizations.
  • Gather and maintain provider documentation (licenses, NPI, DEA, board certifications, malpractice insurance, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate and current files in credentialing software and shared databases (e.g., CAQH, PECOS, PAVE).
  • Monitor recredentialing and revalidation timelines to ensure timely renewals.

Maintenance and Reporting

  • Maintain a comprehensive and centralized master list of provider and clinic site enrollments, including taxonomies, effective dates, NPIs, and payor-specific IDs.
  • Support internal audits and documentation requests for compliance, HRSA, health plan, and FTCA reviews.
  • Generate reports and status updates for the Supervisor and Director of Compliance and Grants as requested.

Communication and Coordination

  • Serve as a point of contact for internal teams (HR, Operations, Billing, Clinical) regarding credentialing/enrollment status.
  • Communicate with payors and regulatory bodies to follow up on applications and resolve processing issues.
  • Work closely with the Credentialing and Enrollment Supervisor to ensure progress on departmental goals and shared accountability.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in credentialing, payor enrollment, healthcare administration, or related fields.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of credentialing and enrollment requirements for Medi-Cal, Medicare, commercial plans, and managed care.
  • Familiarity with enrollment portals (PECOS, PAVE), CAQH, NPPES, and others preferred.
  • Familiarity with HRSA, FTCA, and FQHC regulatory frameworks is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, such as NCQA, DHCS, CMS, Joint Commission, and state-specific regulations pertaining to provider enrollment and credentialing.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word); experience with SharePoint and credentialing databases preferred.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional lifting up to 15 pounds.
  • The primary location for this role is at the Administrative Office and is eligible for hybrid work options, determined by departmental needs.
