As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) supervisor will perform a wide range of duties in the dental clinic and dental office.  In addition to basic RDA duties, this position will provide direct supervision for the Registered Dental Assistant lead(s) & Dental Assistant/Registered Dental Assistant staff. The Lead RDA will have direct contact with patients, work under the direct supervision of a dentist, work closely with the Front Office Supervisor, the front office clerical staff, and report to the Dental Clinic Manager.  Additionally, the RDA supervisor will be responsible to lead, supervise, and train the DA’s and RDA team.   

Responsibilities

  • Practices excellent customer service, supports and provides guidance and direction to the back office staff in providing outstanding customer care.
  • Personnel Management: Interview, hire, and train or oversee training of staff; plan, assign, and direct duties and work schedules.
  • Maintains clear and effective lines of communication with all members of the dental care team.
  • Oversees and monitors the day to day work flow of the dental back office.
  • Ensures that schedule is always booked.
  • Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; responds promptly to customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; responds to requests for service and assistance; and meets commitment to providing outstanding patient centered care.
  • Readily available during clinic hours to answer patient and staff questions about clinic flow, dental clinic process, and scheduling.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance to department policy and HIPPA guidelines.
  • Work with Dental Clinic Manager and or Front Office Supervisor on special projects and provides support as needed.
  • Research, evaluate, recommend, and implement or revise processes, services or techniques as necessary to promote effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Assist clinic manager in quality improvement initiatives, data collection, and other projects as assigned.
  • Perform daily, weekly and/or monthly maintenance on dental equipment. Educate team on basic maintenance, as appropriate. For broken equipment, follow maintenance and repair guidelines.
  • Independently recognizes and performs duties which need to be done without being directly assigned. Establishes priorities; organizes work and time to meet them.
  • Recognizes and responds to priorities, accepts changes and new ideas. Has insight into problems and the ability to develop workable alternatives.
  • Delegates daily workloads and tasks fairly among dental assistants.
  • Lead RDA will also perform regular dental assisting job functions and duties as outlined in the RDA job description.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, Dental Board, and WDS policies and procedures.
  • Leads, inspires and motivates back office staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Maintain appropriate staff levels and participating in recruitment. This includes working collaboratively with Recruiters and may involve dispositioning candidates utilizing our ATS (ICIMS), interviewing and checking references.
  • Onboard, train and support continued development of staff.
  • Manage employee performance, effectively communicate expectations and goals and provide performance feedback and evaluation in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Complete time and attendance requirements for team, approving timesheets, time off requests, and ensure accurate and timely completion for payroll.
  • Ensure a safe, secure and legal work environment by upholding MCC’s policies and procedures.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of a High School diploma /GED.
  • Must have X-ray license.
  • Current RDA license in CA.
  • Experience working in a multilingual/multicultural setting.
  • Previous supervisory experience.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced dental environment.
  • Detail oriented, organized, professional with ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to use state of the art computer systems.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: 

  • May be required to occasionally lift at least 20-25 lbs.
  • Prolonged standing, stooping and reaching.
  • Pinch grip.
