Overview

Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is today, a multi-clinic network with a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. The Clinics regularly receive national awards from the Health Resources and Services Administrations (HRSA). Our Mission is to promote health and wellness through excellent, compassionate care for all.

 

The Director of Clinical Operations at Marin Community Clinics(“MCC”) is a key healthcare leader responsible for overseeing all primary care clinical support services to ensure a Patient Centered Medical Home models. This role involves significant involvement in quality improvement efforts across clinical activities and programs. The Director reports to the Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) for administrative matters and to Chief Medical Officer for clinical guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the CMO and CEO, this role is responsible for assuring that target productivity and quality measures and initiatives that support the strategic plan are met throughout the clinics.
  • Manage the clinical support staff to increase patient compliance, coordinate care, improve clinical outcomes, and quality.
  • Develops, monitors and manages operations budget for staffing and supplies, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include employee selection, orientation, training, scheduling, coaching, discipline, and overall management.
  • Clinical leaders will report to the Director of Clinical Operations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent clinical credentials required.
  • Current CA Professional Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Master’s in science of nursing or Masters in Health Care Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience, primary care experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years increasingly responsible successful management positions in a primary care setting.
  • Experience related to implementing and achieving large project and initiative goals.
  • Experience preferred in working with Patient Centered Medical Home models, and/or team models.
  • Experience with quality improvement and process improvement initiatives.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have demonstrated skills to manage department of over 100 employees.
  • Must understand basic management concepts of span of control, budget development, optimal staff motivation techniques, effective coaching and disciplining, and be dedicated to optimizing employee engagement.
  • Capacity and track record of managing, training, and mentoring others with superior interpersonal skills and achieving results through a collaborative effort.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), electronic medical records (preferably Epic), and web applications.
  • Ability to use a variety of electronic information applications/software programs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and oral communication.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a talent for identifying issues, analyzing data, establishing facts, and proposing effective solutions.
  • Competent in basic math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) across various units of measurement, including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Algebra skills are a plus.
  • Skilled in presenting information clearly and responding to inquiries from patients, colleagues, and others as needed.

  • Regular movement within the Clinic environment throughout the day.
  • Ability to write by hand, use the phone, and work extensively with a computer keyboard and mouse to perform office tasks.
  • Manual dexterity and speed in the wrists and fingers to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through hearing and speech, ensuring clear understanding by a diverse population.
  • Capability to follow verbal and written instructions with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods (at least one hour at a time).
  • Frequent walking, bending, squatting, stooping, kneeling, twisting, crouching, and climbing (with a step stool).
  • Ability to grasp, hold, pick up, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 15 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds (e.g., supplies or equipment).
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel to other clinic locations as needed.
