The Lead Medical Assistant is a back office support staff member working as clinical support for all medical providers, including pediatric and adult medicine. The Lead MA has direct supervisory support for all medical assistants including daily assignments and call-ins for MAs; The Lead MA will problem solve and resolve MA issues, escalating to Clinic Director only when necessary.
Ability to delegate and provide direction to MA's on daily duties as necessary.
Under the supervision of the clinic director, MA Lead assists with disciplinary action including performance management.
Responsible for ordering, inventory and maintaining sufficient levels of vaccines.
Plans and delivers training and in-services with input/support from Clinic Director and Director of Nursing.
Works closely with Clinic Director on Medical Assistant staffing at the clinics.
Responsible for maintaining clinic work flows.
Responsible for assisting Clinic Director with completion and planning of MA's performance evaluations.
Prints hospital and lab reports (as back up for medical records) as needed.
Direct and supervise MA visits and assigning cleaning protocols of work stations such as lab, nursing and charting stations.
Follow care team responsibilities as outlined in the "Care Team Patient Center" medical Home procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Associate Degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or 6 months to 1 year related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid Medical Assistant certification from an accredited Medical Assistant educational program.
California Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification required.
Current CPR certification.
Minimum of 1 year work experience as a Medical Assistance preferred.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) language skills are required.
Prior work experience leading a Medical Assistant team highly desired.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to multitask and follow-up on tasks in a fast paced clinic environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in English/Spanish verbally and written.
Ability to read Spanish required.
Prior work experience using NextGen Electronic Health Records software a plus.
Ability to work flexible work hours as needed, including evenings or weekends as necessary.
Covid-19 Vaccines and Booster Requirements:
All employees are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, including "health-care" required boosters as a condition of employment, subject to limited exemptions. New employees are required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and boosted before the first day of employment. If you completed your primary series early boosters,but have not received the most recent booster,you will be required to get the most recent booster and mask until competed if hired
