The Integrated Behavioral Health Services is a department within Marin Community Clinics that serves patients with mental health concerns of all ages through an integrated behavioral health model. Clinicians are part of the medical team, provide warm hand offs and consultations to primary care providers, as well as provide direct service to patients including individual and group treatment. Interns will have the opportunity to work with patients across the lifespan and with a wide variety of clinical presentations, as well as to learn to work within an integrated care model.

    Description of Fellowship

    MCC offers rigorous clinical internships for graduate and post graduate students in psychology and social work. Set in an integrated medical clinic, our clinical training program offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience and focused training in the sought after field of Integrated Behavioral Health. The Postdoctoral Fellowship provides exceptional training for individuals interested in working in a medical setting, with a focus on health psychology and integrated behavioral health care, with a culturally diverse population. MCC’s training program adheres to the core competencies of Integrated Behavioral Health in Primary Care identified by SAMSHA, and aims to cultivate practitioners ready to enter the field of Behavioral Healthcare. Fellows will have the unique opportunity to work directly in medical team pods, interfacing with providers across multiple disciplines in a team-based approach to medical care. Fellows are welcomed as an integral part of the team, providing consultation to medical providers as well as direct patient care. Fellows will experience the fast paced environment of a medical clinic, within the support of a multidisciplinary training program.

    Postdoc Responsibilities

    Postdoctoral Fellow will be part of the integrated behavioral health team. Fellow will be responsible for providing warm hand-off assessments, consultations, and brief (1-3 session) strategic interventions for any patient with behavioral health needs. In addition, fellow will provide direct service including short term 8-12 week individual therapy, and group therapy to adults, children and families who present with a variety of disorders and qualify as "mild to moderate". Fellow will also provide crisis intervention and stabilization as needed, as well as case management and coordination of referrals for patients referred to community providers for specialty care. Fellow will be co-located in the medical clinic with medical providers, and will collaborate with providers on patient care, and provide consultation to providers in addition to direct patient services. Fellows are responsible for timely and professional documentation in the medical chart, and regular communication with collateral providers. Fellows may have an opportunity for some psychological testing as well, to be determined based on the availability of adjunct supervision and resources.  Fellow will be located at South Novato Clinic working primarily with pediatric patients, as well as the San Rafael Clinic working with both children and adults. Services will be rendered in English and Spanish.

    Fellows will be provided with 2hours of individual face-to-face supervision weekly. Primary and delegated supervisors will be licensed psychologists, with additional supervision available by Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Nurse Practitioners and Psychiatrists. Fellows will participate in a weekly two hour group supervision and didactic, which focuses on advanced training in Integrated Behavioral Health. Fellows will also attend a weekly one hour multidisciplinary case conference and behavioral health team meeting. Supervisors will be available in person or by phone during clinical hours. Additional trainings and didactics will be offered throughout the year as available. This is a paid fellowship and supervision will be provided within the standards outlined by BBS. This is a 1 or 2-year position.

     

    Qualifications

    PsyD or PhD

    All candidates must provide proof of graduation from an APA-accredited program with a degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
