The Medical Scribe will support providers at Marin Community Clinics, Novato Clinics. Tasks primarily involve (although not limited to) the documentation of the patient’s chief complaint and treatment in electronic health record software (NextGen), interpretation for Spanish-speaking patients and appropriate follow up with patients after their visits. The Medical Scribe will report to the Site Medical Director.
Under general supervision, the Medical Scribe’s primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Executes daily prep and retrieval of information for scheduled patients per physician’s request.
Contacts no shows and reschedules appointments when needed.
Documents accurate and detailed data into patient’s electronic health record as directed by the physician.
Performs administrative responsibilities, including reviewing notes, scheduling follow-up appointments, among others.
Interprets for Spanish-speaking patients.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Certified Medical Assistant or Bachelor’s degree in medical related field desirable.
Stenography and/or transcription skills a plus.
Must have at least one year work experience in the medical field; prior work experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) a plus.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English (able to read, write and speak)
Must be fluent in Spanish
Ability to use a computer and work with electronic health records; experience with NextGen a plus, but not required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to multi-task work duties
