The Medical Scribe assists one or more Primary Care Providers by recording precise notes, ordering labs/diagnostics/referrals, and facilitating organization in busy schedules in fast paced environment. The Scribe is given ample room to develop clinical skills under provider supervision. Marin Community Clinics provides a supportive learning environment for aspiring medical professionals with the mission of providing quality medical care to all populations.
This position is full time with desired commitment of 1-2 years.
The Medical Scribe assists physicians both in and out of patient visits. Approximately 60% of hours are spent in a traditional scribe role: noting the patient’s complaints, pertinent findings, and composing an Assessment and Plan under provider direction. During visits, the Scribe uses the exam room computer to take notes, and can show the provider anything they need in EHR as well as order all labs, diagnostics, and referrals at provider’s instruction. Before visits, the Scribe assists MAs in chart preparation through Order Tracking.
The additional 40% of hours are broken into various tasks focused on enhancing patient care. The Scribe manages correspondence by completing paperwork, working with Nurses to manage the PAQ, and calling patients with normal and abnormal test results. The Scribe organizes all diagnostics and referrals ordered in an “Order Tracking” spreadsheet and updates weekly or as frequently as time allows. The Scribe uses this sheet to flag outstanding orders before each clinical day starts. Any additional non-clinical time is used to assist the medical team, whether it be aiding nurses in daily tasks, scribing for other providers when needed, or pursuing quality improvement projects such as Order or Opiate tracking. The Scribe is trained on-site to perform MA duties if needed, such as vitaling and discharging patients. On days when the assigned provider(s) are not present, the Scribe may provide background information to nurses or providers seeing the patient.

Ability to type 60 words/min or higher typing rate desired.
