  • Overview

    This role focuses on electronic and paper medical record management within Marin Community Clinics. 


    • Interacts and communicates with clinical staff to assist with deficient and delinquent medical record completion.
    • Releases patient information to persons or agencies according to HIPAA regulations.
    • Ensures only appropriate information is faxed to outside medical facilities.
    • Provides quality medical record services effectively and efficiently.
    • Actively supports a teamwork environment that fosters quality and productivity.
    • Effectively completes other duties as assigned to fulfill department tasks.
    • Scans records into patient charts, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness of information (ex. all pages of documents are in order and available).
    • Works collaboratively with other departments.
    • Locates and extracts pertinent information from medical file.
    • Protects the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
    • Processes task received via inbox from Nurses, MA’s, and Physicians.
    • Care Team Responsibilities as outlined in the Care Team Patient Center Medical Home Procedures.
    • Merges duplicate patient records.
    • Assists in pre-visit prep for patients which may include, but is not limited to, printing hospital records.
    • Retrieves paper and electronic faxes to be filtered and distributed or scanned as necessary.


    • High School Diploma/GED Required.
    • Experience working in Healthcare environment is preferred.
    • Microsoft Office experience is required.
    • NextGen experience is desired.
    • Must be able to effectively use a computer.
    • Must be able to effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing.
    • Excellent teamwork and customer service skills.
    • High level of initiative and ability to follow through on assignments.
    • Proficient computer skills.
    • Ability to recognize problems and seek help when necessary.
    • Must be willing to spend long hours sitting at a desk station looking at computer screen.
    • Must be able to work well independently and/or in groups.
    • Must have reliable transportation.
    • Must be able to work in fast pace medical environment.
    • Must be able to follow instructions and carry through directions.
    • Must have excellent attention to detail and ability to identify errors and correct them.
